Scissors and Paints

Today we did a guided discovery (where we talk about the expectations, model, and practice) of scissors and water coloring.
We discussed ways to walk in our classroom with our scissors and then the children practiced getting their own scissors and walking to their table spots.  Next, the children practiced using the scissors by cutting on some lines, including straight, zig zag, and curved lines.  Even though it was hard, we all persevered and did a great job cutting and trying our best!
Yesterday, the children did a guided drawing activity that had them drawing a butterfly.  Today, the children water colored their butterfly after talking about how to be responsible and safe with our water colors.  Our butterflies will be hung on the wall near our metamorphosis tank (where we currently have one chrysalis and one monarch caterpillar).
We filled our class beehive jar today!  So, we had our first class celebration, which was a dance party. This is what our school wide beehive looks like currently.  It looks like we will have a school wide celebration tomorrow or Monday!!!
