Forest Friday Workshop
This afternoon we spent the our time outside with Mrs. Dyer's class. We began today's workshop with a community circle, followed by some yoga. Then, the children had some free play where the children had fun exploring our outside classroom area. They were quickly building forts with the branches and logs that we have out there. After free play, the children rotated through three stations: tag, chalk, and a walk.
Mrs. Dyer and I were hoping to make a path up to the hill that overlooks the school. However, we soon realized that there was poison parsnip at the entrance to our path. So, we took this opportunity to the children about poison parsnip and have them share their ideas of how we could solve the problem of this invasive plant invading our classroom space. Their ideas ranged from mowing it down, to using ice, or starting a fire.
Ask your child to share with you what they liked best from today's Forest Friday workshop.
