Forest Friday Workshop and Weather

For every Forest Friday Workshop, we begin in a large circle and perform our Sun Salutation Yoga song.  This is a great way to begin our workshop. See if your child can show you the yoga moves to go along with the song.

Today, during our workshop, we broke up into two groups.  The first group stayed in our forest area to learn about sit spots, hear a read aloud, and play.  The second group went onto the ABS nature trail.  While on the trail, we read a story titled Trout Are Made of Trees.  We also looked at what we noticed on trail.  We came across many Painted Lady butterflies, bees and we also saw a monarch butterfly.  Unfortunately, the nature trail ended abruptly and we were unable to walk to the brook.

We have been ending our time in the forest with a read aloud.  Today, we listened to how Old Grandfather Frog lost his tail.

Earlier this week we began our year long weather unit by participating in a mystery science lesson: Have you ever watched a storm?  In this lesson, we learned about how to become a weather watcher.  We learned about the different factors in describing the weather and then we went outside to observe the weather and record our observations in our science notebooks.  Please view your child's Seesaw account to see their scientific drawing.
