Frogs

Posted by Picasa

On Monday our wonderful Four Winds volunteers came in for one last time this year to present a workshop on frogs and polliwogs (tadpoles). We learned about some special adaptations frogs, toads, and tadpoles have. We saw several different types of frogs that live in Vermont and heard their calls. We compared a frog's ability to jump with our own. We built a frog and a tadpole using felt pieces and even got to observe live polliwogs, which everyone was excited about!

We have also been learning about frogs in our classroom. The children wrote something they knew about frogs on a sticky note. After reading a few books on frogs, the children wrote something new they learned about frogs on a sticky note. Their knew knowledge was shared with the class.

This week we talked about the life cycle of a frog and they will complete an art project around this on Friday.
