As we have been learning about pumpkins, we decided as a class that we would find out how many seeds were in our class pumpkin. Before we had started cutting the pumpkin, we made observations by drawing what our pumpkin looked liked on the outside and how big it was. Then, we drew what we thought the inside of the pumpkin would look like. We also weighed our pumpkin, which we found it weighed 99 lbs! After, we predicted how many seeds would be in our pumpkin. Finally, it was time to cut open our pumpkin!
Once the top was off, the children were excited to put their hand inside the pumpkin and curious what was inside and what it felt like. They were also very helpful with taking the seeds and pulp out. We were noticing the seeds were very big and fat! We had lots of fun helping (as you can see by the video).
On Tuesday, we counted the seeds by 10's. We found there were 598 seeds! After, we each glued 3 seeds onto our observation paper.
