Harold and the Purple Crayon

Today we ventured to the Flynn to see Harold and the Purple Crayon. Harold had a very creative imagination! He took an adventure to Mars and encountered an alien. After finding his way back to Earth, he was off to the circus. We met a lot of interesting characters at the circus. After the circus, the princess was captured by some monsters. Harold was determined to rescue her in the castle. On the way back to Harold's house, Harold and the princess encountered a witch. Once they fought off the witch, they were safely back in Harold's bedroom. At that point, Harold decided to share his purple crayon with his new friend. The children had a blast watching such a magical journey. Make sure to ask them what their favorite part was.

On Friday, we had a Purple Celebration. During this time, the children were able to explore 7 centers that all had something to do with the color purple (purple playdough, purple paint, creating a picture on the Paint Program using the color purple, playing with purple bugs, etc.)

One of the activities that all the children did was they created their own collage/scene using various purple craft objects. The glitter glue was very popular with all the children! Their art pieces look fabulous hanging in our classroom and I loved how creative they were.

Below are pictures that were taken on Friday during our Purple Celebration and before the show today. Tomorrow we will create our own purple adventure using purple crayons.
