| Nate's mom shared this picture with the class. This bird is called a Bowerbird Bower, which is found in Australia. |
Today we had another wonderful Four Winds workshop put on by our parent volunteers. The children learned about birds and how some birds migrate during the winter to find shelter and food. They also learned how some birds stay where they are and how they adapt for the winter season. For example, a Chickadee, fluffs it's feathers, stays with other Chickadee's and finds a warm home such as a hollow tree.

| Male Bowerbirds collect blue objects to "woo" their future mate. Female Bowerbirds choose their mate based on their collections. |
We looked at the size of an Osprey and it's wingspan. The children compared the length of their arms to the wings of an Osprey. We also had fun playing migration tag outside. Unfortunately, there were no birds to be seen in the cloudy skies.
When we came back in, the children drew a bird in their science notebooks.
Ask your child to share something about birds that they learned during today's workshop.
