Today, we had our field trip at Shelburne Farms. Despite the cold, the children never complained and were engaged the entire time! When we arrived, we had snack and then we split into 4 groups. In each of the groups, the children were asked what they knew about the forest. Many children were able to list animals that they think they would find in a forest along with some other living things. Each group had a specific area of the forest that they explored during the morning hours. They had fun building with sticks, sliding down hills, playing games, building a fire, enjoying some hot chocolate (so appreciated on a day like today!) and finding nature items. After lunch, the children had fun seeing the animals at the farm, playing on the tractor, building a cozy home for an animal, reading a story and playing some games inside.
Make sure to ask your child to share his or her favorite part with you.
