Math Update, New Letters, and Play in Kindergarten

In math, we've been working on finding combinations of 5 using a variety of math tools, including number racks, finger patterns, and beans.  Today, your child found 1-2 ways to make 5 using the beans.  They recorded their math thinking on Seesaw.

Also in math, we've been working with our number racks to represent numbers.

We also learned a new math game called Count and Compare Dots, which focuses on the concept of greater than and less than.

On Tuesday, we looked at this picture that was posted on the National Geographic Instagram account. We shared what we noticed and did some interactive writing about the picture.  After our sentence was written, we counted how many words were in our sentence and counted how many syllables were in the word butterflies.

These are our new letters this week,

Below are some fun pictures I took this week of the children during our play times.
Writing words and making books.
Practicing writing our friends names.
Working on sequencing numbers and fine motor skills.
Gathering in a group to talk about playing Transformers.
Assigning roles for the Transformer game.
Magnatiles are a big hit in our classroom!
