Catching a Leprechaun....

The day before St. Patrick's Day, the children were excited and determined to design a trap that would catch the leprechaun, who we were anticipating would visit our classroom that night!

The children were placed into small groups and they were given different materials to work with including lots of recycling material (thank you to those who sent in materials!).  They quickly got to work and worked for about 45 minutes on creating the best trap possible.  The children were very cleaver in their ideas.

On Friday morning, the children discovered, indeed the Leprechaun had visited out classroom, not only leaving behind some gold and green coins, but a MESS!!!  Seamus, was the name of our Leprechaun, was very full of mischief.

Unfortunately, the children didn't catch the Leprechaun as it seemed he was just too quick.  Better luck next year!

The children also completed an project that involved art and writing.  They drew and colored a Leprechaun and wrote about what they would do if they caught a Leprechaun.
