On Friday, Megan brought in a sap bucket, a spout, some sap and maple syrup to share with the class. First, the children shared what they knew about maple sugaring. Then, we read a story. After reading the book From Sap to Syrup, we took a closer look at the spout and the sap. We thought the sap looked like water! Then came the exciting part: tasting the sap! The children were a bit surprised that the sap didn't have much of a flavor as you can see by the video. Next, we tasted the maple syrup, which was much sweeter and yummier than the sap.
