Birds, Beaks and Wings
On Monday, we had Four Winds and this month's topic was all about birds. The children learned that birds have different adaptations based on the type of beaks, feet, and wings they have. The children were able to examine real life feathers (owls and turkeys) using a magnify glass. They also were able to feel the wing of an owl, which was very exciting. Then, they used different types of tools that represented different types of beaks to grab food to feed to the "baby chicks." Many of the children chose the tongs as they were the easiest to use!
