Insects

Today, our Four Wind's volunteers came in to teach us about Insects.  The children learned what makes an insect an insect.  They also learned about the difference between a bug and an insect because not all insects are bugs (I just learned this today!).  The children enjoyed the puppet show, and some fun activities.  They built different insects using craft materials.  Toward the end of the workshop, we went outside to look and collect insects.   Pictures from today's workshop.

Discussion Points:

• Name an insect.
• Next, ask them How do you know that's an insect?
• Have them draw their insect, making sure to include all the parts (3 body parts, 6 legs, wings, antennas).
• Did you catch an insect?  If so, what did you catch? 
• See if they can teach you the insect song.
