Molly's mom, Emily, came into the classroom today to teach us where chocolate comes from. Emily works as a Chocolate Sculptress at Lake Champlain Chocolates and was gracious enough to come in to teach us about chocolate. She shared some photos showing the process of where chocolate comes from starting from the cocoa beans. The children even got to view and hold an actual cocoa bean! At the end of her session, the children sampled different types of chocolates starting with white chocolate, then milk chocolate, dark chocolate, and 70% dark chocolate (not many children liked this one!). The children were able to bring home 2 chocolates (milk and dark) along with a handout from Lake Champlain Chocolates. Emily will be back next week to teach and show us how chocolate is made.
