Daunting Defenes

This week we had another wonderful Four Winds workshop, which focused on Daunting Defenses.  Animals and plants have traits that prevent them from being eaten.  Some common defenses within the animal and plant worlds include hard shells, yucky odors, sharp spines, and poisons.

The children learned about the different defenses animals and plants have in the puppet show.  After, they acted out some of these defenses using their bodies.  Then, they had an opportunity to look at some of the defenses including porcupine quills and thorns on some plants.  As a closure to the workshop, the children each created a porcupine using apples, peanut butter, pretzels, and M & M's! YUM!!!
