The Buzz on Bees

Today, we had our last Four Winds Workshop, which focused on the topic of bees.  We learned how bees work together in a colony and about the life cycle of a honeybee.  We got to observe a real live bee and learned about a dance that a bee does when it has found a source of food (nectar) and wants to share this news with the rest of the bees.  The bee performs a waggle dance showing where the food source is, a bee's version of a map.  The children had fun performing this dance during an activity outside.  The children also enjoyed a yummy snack of honey, peanut butter and bread!
