Searching for Signs of Spring
Yesterday, the Audubon Center came to kindergarten to present a workshop on Signs of Spring. During the workshop, the children listened for and smelled signs of spring. They also observed 3 different types of nests (Robin, Baltimore Oriole, and Hummingbird). After, the children were partnered up and created a birds nest using various materials found in nature. Have your child share with you what they used to create their nest. Then, they hide their nest somewhere outside. After, we played a tag game that had 2 raccoons (the predators) searching for and attacking the nests. This was a great way for the children to move around, but also learn how birds have to care for and protect their nest and eggs.
