All About Plants

After the April break, we began learning about plants, including learning about the different plant parts and what plants need to survive.  We read several non-fiction books about plants, including a book about the life cycle of a sunflower.  The children also completed an art activity that had them creating a plant using construction paper  and then labeling the parts of a plant (flower, roots, stem, leaves).
The children also planted flower seeds.  They have been anxiously awaiting for them to grow. The children are making weekly observations and recording their observations in their flower journal.  They will be sharing their plant and journal with you at the end of the school year.  Ask your child what type of flower seeds they planted (Nasturtium, Marigold, Zinnia, Morning Glory).
