Communities

Posted by Picasa

In November, we learned about Communities, particularly the Williston Community.  We created a list of people, places, and things that we would find in the Williston Community.  Then, we created a list of what we would find in our school community.  The children shared what their favorite place was in the Williston community and then illustrated it on paper.

Before Thanksgiving, one of our friend's invited her grandparents, who had travelled from New Zealand, to come into our classroom to talk about their community in New Zealand.  Then, our friend's grandfather shared with the class some tops he had made, which were a big hit in the class and still are! We watched him spin the different types of tops and even observed him picking up a top in his hand while it was still spinning.  The children had lots of opportunities to spin the tops.  After, everyone enjoyed some ANZAC biscuits, which were delicious!
