We have been busy little writer's and reader's in the past few weeks! The children are learning how to become stronger readers and writers through teaching and practicing.
In writer's workshop, we've been learning how to write a true story. We've been using the following anchor chart to help us write our stories. We are continuing to stretch out our words, working on showing where our story takes place by adding details in our drawings and sharing what happened in our story through our pictures and words. This class has been very brave at trying to write words. They don't give up and they keep on trying!
In reader's workshop, we've been learning how to take care of books, brainstorming reasons why we read, how we read a book from cover to cover, and the importance of rereading a book several times. We have also been rereading a few "favorites" as we learn that readers read stories they have heard many times. We are also learning how rereading helps readers learn from words in books, too.
Below are some pictures from partner reading and private reading.
