Celebrating Dot Day

A few weeks ago, we celebrated Dot Day (around September 15th-ish), which was inspired by the book The Dot by Peter Reynolds.  In the story, a teacher encourages a student to believe in herself by "making her mark."  What begins as a small dot on a piece of paper becomes a journey of self-discovery and inspiration for others.

After reading the book to the children, the children created "their mark" by creating their own dot pictures. They are hanging beautifully in our classroom.
