Motion: Pushes and Pulls

This week the kindergartners discovered what it is like to be a scientist. We are working toward understanding about Motion and the forces of push and pull. We are learning how to wonder, predict, observe, analyze and make conclusions while at the same time having fun on scooters and building marble roll towers. After each investigation I am encouraging students to state any claims out loud about movement that they noticed based on their evidence. For example: Harder pushes make an object move farther and faster. I know this because when we pushed the scooter hard, it moved farther than when we pushed it softly. We will be continuing this process next week when I will give students a chance to create their own investigations.
