We have started learning about polar bears in the classroom, which the children are excited about! The children shared their schema (what you already know) and the vocabulary words for this unit were introduced as well. We've read the book Polar Bears (2x), which is a non-fiction book, that has taught us a lot of facts about these animals. Ask your child to share something new they've learned about polar bears with you tonight.
Starting tomorrow, each child will begin writing a non-fiction piece on polar bears. As we are writing our non-fiction pieces, we will also begin learning about the features often included in non-fiction books (table of contents, diagrams, headers, glossary).
