January Calendar Pieces
When the children had returned for the holiday break, they created some new calendar pieces for the month of January. This month's pattern involves sea creatures (sharks, whales, and seals) and it's a ABC pattern. To make the calendar pieces, the children simply colored in their sea creature using crayons and used watercolors to color the background.
In Our Month in School chart, we are continuing to use ten frame cards, but we are now looking at the concept of odd and even. Ask your child to give you an example of an odd number and an even number. See if they can justify how they know (get them to talking about their math thinking).
We are fast approaching the 100th day of school! If I've done my calculations correctly, the 100th day will be on Monday, February 11th. This is assuming we have no snow days. I'll keep you posted about the date as I have lots of different activities planned for this special and fun event.
