Four Winds
On Friday, our terrific volunteers came into the classroom to teach us about seeds. The children learned three ways that seeds travel: by wind, by water, and by animal. They also learned that the coat is what protects the seed. The children peeled the coat off of Lima beans and examined the parts using magnify glasses. Next, they used magnify glasses to look at different types of seeds from plants and trees. The children also had a chance to eat some pumpkin seeds. After, we went outside to hunt for seeds, which the children had no problems finding, especially burdock (hitch-hiking seeds).
