The Start of Writer's Workshop

We began Writer's Workshop two weeks ago and the children are currently working on seeing themselves as writers, learning strategies to help them begin their writing, and building their independent writing stamina.

Our lessons have focused on the following:
  • Putting ideas on paper with pictures and words
  • Knowing what to do when we think we are done
  • Working on independence
  • Using our thought bubbles, picturing our idea, and putting that onto paper
  • Stretching our words to write them
During writer's workshop, we often create anchor charts to help us during our writing time.  Below is a chart that we created to help us know what to do when we think we are done with our writing piece.
