Thankful

This time of year we always reflect on what we are thankful for.  After reading several Thanksgiving theme books, the children created turkey books and wrote and illustrated what they were thankful for.  These little books are displayed in our room, but below is a video showcasing them sharing one page of their book.

The children also drew these adorable turkeys through a guided drawing lesson.  After, they used watercolors for some added color.

One of the books that we read was Turkey Disguise, which is about a turkey trying hard not to get eaten for Thanksgiving dinner.  So, he tries to disguise (a great vocabulary word the children learned about!) himself as something different than himself.  Ask your child what he disguised himself as.
After the story, the children were given the task of disguised their own turkey so it wouldn't be eaten for Thanksgiving dinner.  First, the children made a list of some ideas of what they could disguise their turkey as.  Then, they began creating their costume for their turkey using markers and construction paper.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
