This week the children did another experiment that had them watching what happens when seltzer was poured into a cup that had a few raisins in it. Before beginning, the children made predictions about what they thought was going to happen. Many of them thought the raisins were going to float and/or get soggy after a period of time. Then, in small groups, the children carried out the experiment. Some groups noticed the raisins floated up (jumped) and then sunken to the bottom again. In some groups, the raisins didn't do anything. Many of us noticed the air bubbles that were in the cup and thought maybe they had something to do with moving the raisins. After the experiment, the children recorded their observations in their science journals.
