Equations and Making 5

In math, the children have been introduced to equations by using five-frames.  This allows the children to see how the dot quantities match the written notation.  This is their first introduction to the addition, subtraction, and equal symbols and we will continue using equations for the remainder of the school year. 


This week, the children were introduced to a new math game called Fives Up.  In this game, the children collect two cards that equal 5.  Here is a video showcasing the game between two players.
